ABS provides FREE technical support for 90 days from date of purchase to registered users of Visual Staff Scheduler Pro (VSS Pro) 14 or Visual Staff Scheduler Premier (VSS Premier) 14. If you purchased an Annual Software Maintenance Plan, you are entitled to technical assistance at no charge. Otherwise, there is a $35.00 fee per incident (charged to a credit card).

ABS does not provide technical support for prior (non-current) versions of VSS Pro or VSS Premier. If you require support for a prior (non-current) version of VSS Pro or VSS Premier, you will be required to upgrade to the current version first. Due to rapid changes in technology, ABS only maintains the most current versions of its software titles.

Software Updates

Periodically, we offer software updates to address any issues found since the release of the software. Before contacting technical support, please make sure you have the latest VSS Pro or VSS Premier update. To do this, go to the Help menu in VSS Pro or VSS Premier and click "Check for Updates" to see if an update is available. Software updates are only available for the current version of the software.

Can’t print or preview the reports? Could not activate PDF Driver?

If you’ve got another software program that uses a newer version of the print driver used in VSS Pro, you’ll get a message asking you to update the PDF driver.

To update the print driver for VSS Pro, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the ABSDPF v400 print driver from Devices and Printers (found in the Control Panel on your computer)
  2. Download and install the new PDF print driver
  3. Restart the computer

I’m getting a Run-Time Error 6 Overflow error?

This error message means there is too much information in the schedule file. Many companies will maintain a separate schedule file for each year.

Click on the File menu and select Properties. Adjust the File Starting Date to a more recent date.

Unable to schedule past a certain date?

There’s a starting and ending file date for each schedule file.

Click on the File menu and select Properties. Adjust the File Ending Date to a date in the future.

The program is asking for an Access Password but I never created one.

The schedule file may be corrupt. Restore a backup of your schedule file.

Click on the File menu and select Open. Choose the file type Schedule Backup Files (*vb?) and select the most recent backup file, which is the file with the vb1 extension. Click Open to revert to the last saved version of your schedule file.

Getting an ERR- in front of the employee names when running a report.

In the Print window of a report, if the “print employee numbers only” box is checked and there are no employee numbers entered into VSS, it will cause this error.

Uncheck the “print employee numbers only” box to correct this error message.

Active X Component cannot create object.

Another program, such as anti-virus software, is blocking the active x component. Or, if another program or spyware were recently removed from the computer, it may have mistakenly uninstalled a file required to run VSS.

Reinstall the VSS software.

Error code 41

Have the administrator log into that computer and install VSS.  Open up VSS and print a report.  This should activate the PDF driver for all other users.

The installation of VSS Pro on newer machines stalls at 69%

It’s trying to do a test print job during the installation. You’ll need an updated print driver for VSS Pro. Go to your computers Devices & Printers, look at the ABS Print Driver and cancel the document that it is trying to print. Then VSS Pro will continue to install.

To update the print driver for VSS Pro, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the ABSDPF v400 print driver from Devices and Printers (found in the Control Panel on your computer)
  2. Download and install the new PDF print driver
  3. Restart the computer

I just installed it and it’s asking me to register.

Whenever you install our PC-based software on a computer for the first time it will ask you to register the software. User registration is free and easy to do.

If your computer has internet access, the fastest option is to choose to Register Online when you’re prompted to register the software. Otherwise, you can go to www.userregistration.com to obtain a registration key.

Getting an Overflow Error.

The schedule file is too large.

Change the starting and ending date fields by clicking on the File menu and selecting Properties inside VSS Pro. You may want to make a new schedule file for each year.

VSS Pro is PC-based software that is installed on the computers that are licensed to run it. It’s intended for manager use only. Using VSS Pro you can email schedules to employees or save schedules as PDF or HTML files that you can post to your company’s intranet.
